Many people who plan to travel to Hamburg have already heard of our fascinating Miniatur Wunderland Hamburg, which is open to visitors 365 days a year and presents
“the largest model railway in the world,
and one of the most successful permanent exhibitions in Northern Germany.”
– Miniatur Wunderland Hamburg
On top of being the world’s largest model railway embedded in a variety of different landscapes that correspond to places in Germany, Austria, America, Scandinavia, and Switzerland, the creators installed an awesome lighting design that simulates dawn, daylight, sunset, and also shows you the whole scenery at night – an overall fascinating experience! You can check out behind the scenes views from Google Maps to get an impression of the variety of details that awaits you.
As the unique Miniatur Wunderland is one of the most popular attractions in Hamburg, you might end up in the waiting queue if you don’t arrive early in the morning on a Saturday, Sunday, or during school holidays – especially if it’s a rainy day. Only a limited number of visitors is granted access simultaneously to ensure that each guest gets the opportunity to enjoy exploring the different landscapes and to discover the variety of details. In order to prepare your visit, you can download a PDF of the English Travel Guide here, which gives you an overview of the exhibition area and further explanations about the constructions.
Miniatur Wunderland Tickets
If you want to avoid losing precious time in front of the entrance, the Miniatur Wunderland offers an online reservation system to book tickets in advance and to qualify for the VIP entrance. Those tickets are limited and can only be purchased for a specific date. If you prefer to plan your visit spontaneously, you may use the waiting time forecast tool on their website to check the current waiting time as well as the expected queue length for the following days. In case of a group with more than 15 persons, it’s highly recommendable to call +49 (0)40 – 3006800 and register your tickets in advance to benefit from direct access to the exhibition. You need to call the same number if you are interested in a guided behind the scenes tour in English to book your binding reservation.
Tip: The admission fee model of the Miniatur Wunderland is comprised of several discount categories that you may want to have a look at in order to bring necessary IDs along if applicable.
